Cubic Matter was founded by SirAlex after he left the [MH] Mapping Hell Clan due to surprising and unacceptable changes by the clan leaders.
Since the newly established system in the [MH]clan didn't conform to the image of a clan many [MH]members had, the idea of a new clan with disappointed [MH] members as base came up. Name of the clan, tag and policy were selected democratically while SirAlex sponsored two Sauerbraten servers, established the forum and secured the IRC channel. Since then Cubic Matter kept growing, forming the clanmap, arguing in the forum and programming useful stuff to improve the general edit experience.
